Herbal medicine is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine.  Herbal supplements often help to augment (increase) the beneficial effects of acupuncture.  Many herbs have extremely high antioxidant activity which helps protect cells and slow aging and cell damage.  Some have anti-inflammatory activity.  Others can help stimulate the immune system and many herbs have anti-cancer activity.  When used together, acupuncture and herbal medicine will most often achieve a better result than either used alone.  Dr. Katz may recommend an herbal supplement for your pet to help achieve a better outcome for him or her.
